“Empowering Education & Classroom Experience  in the Post-covid World.”

The International Conference on Education & Teaching in K-12 Schools (ICET) is a joint educational event organized by Stirling Schools, Cambridge University Press, City & Guilds, and GEMS. It intends to promote education and contribute to the development of the schools and teachers’ professional development. 

ICET 2021 brought together teacher trainers, educational experts, and community leaders from the national and international community. Presentations in ICET were delivered in three languages: English, Arabic, and Kurdish. ICET was organized for the first time in 2021.

ICET has been aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals-Goal 4, and UNESCO Education 2030 Framework for Action UNESCO 4.C.

ICET 2021 was organized under the aegis of KRG Ministry of Education, and with the support of Ministry of Education of Iraq, the British Embassy Baghdad and British Consulate General Erbil, and IBBC. 17 reputable universities of Kurdistan and Iraq along with 4 international institutions, including University of  London and Cambridge Assessment, officially supported the ICET 2021.

ICET 2021 is an online conference that focuses on the theme “Empowering Education & Classroom Experience in the Post-covid World.”

39 Speakers from 29 respected national and international institutions delivered 41 online seminars in three languages in the ICET 2021. Hundreds of participants from several countries attended the online conference.

ICET 2021 started with an opening ceremony on May 17, 2021 at Rotana Erbil Hotel.

Mr. Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education of KRI, and Mr Umed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, delivered opening remarks.

Mr. James Thornton, British Consul-General of Erbil, delivered a keynote address on behalf of the British Embassy Baghdad and British Consulate General Erbil.

Mr. Chris Sowton, an international educational consultant, presented a keynote entitled

“We need some space: grasping for the COVID dividend in education.”

Ms. Kim Insley, teacher educator, from University of London presented a keynote entitled

“Empowering Teachers: lessons post-covid.”

ICET 2021 ended with an online closing ceremony. Dr. Gita Subrahmanyam, International Education Expert of Research and Consultancy, delivered a closing keynote presentation entitled “Transformations to adapt to global disruptions.”
