Young Academics Flourish at Stirling Schools 

Stirling Schools students are active participants in International Competitions & Scientific Olympiads. 

These Competitions & Olympiads open to all participants in Iraq under the organization of the Stirling Schools in all the major cities to provide incredible learning and life experience opportunities for the students through different experimental projects, exposure to new cultures and opportunities to meet talented students from various educational institutions from nation-wide and around the world.  

Scientific and technological developments are increasing faster than ever in today’s world, and Stirling Schools contribute to these developments through their active participation in projects and science Olympiads and Competitions. International Competitions & Olympiads are regarded as an essential part of the educational provisions for gifted and talented students. 


INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS: 
Online International Math Challenge (IMC)  

The Online International Math Challenge (IMC) is widely regarded as a prominent global contest centered around mathematics, catering to students across all academic levels and age groups worldwide to encourage students to strive for excellence in mathematics, improve critical thinking skills of problem solvers and promote international-mindedness and global perspectives among students.

American Math Competition (AMC) 

More than 300,000 students participate in the MAA American Mathematics Competitions each year, which leads the nation in strengthening the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem solvers. 

The program begins at the middle school level of competition, AMC 8 and extends through high school with the AMC 10 and 12.

Hippo 

Hippo "English Without Borders" Olympiad is an international Olympiad which promotes English language, challenges students around the globe to compete in English language knowledge, and improves the co-operation between teachers. 

The Olympiad encourages the development of a shared sense of identity and integration, serves as a role model for young people living together as one community. 

The main goal is to create and nourish friendly relations, international understanding and a spirit of sporting competitiveness between young people interested in English language from all around the world.

TeenEagle 

TeenEagle is an International English Language Competition in which all wishing students can compete in two stages. First one is Online and the second one is onsite, Global Final in the UK. Students from any country in the world, as long as they’re between 8-18 years old. TeenEagle Online is open to anyone in this category but Global Finals require a participant to have earned over 60% on an Online Round.

Owlypia 

Owlypia is an invigorating international competition designed for students in three age groups: 9-11 years (OWLINS), 12-14 years (OWLETS), and 15-18 years (OWLYS). Each year, Owlypia embraces a new central theme, inspiring intellectual curiosity, and a passion for learning in young minds globally. 

Encapsulating the ethos of “Challenge your limits intellectually!”, Owlypia aims to ignite the spark of intellectual curiosity while fostering research skills and academic confidence in young individuals.

International Kangaroo Math Olympiad 

Kangourou sans Frontières (KSF) is an independent association, whose purpose is to organize the annual Kangaroo contest to promote mathematics among young people around the world. 

Each year over six million school pupils aged 5 to 18 from more than 50 countries around the globe take part at various levels. Awards are given to the top-scoring students per grade at the national level. Questions require imagination, basic computational skills, logical thinking, and other problem-solving strategies.

International STEM Olympiad 

S(cience) - T(echnology) - E(ngineering) - M(ath) 

The International STEM Olympiad is an international online competition platform in which students from grade 1 to 12 compete, and the questions are prepared in line with the philosophy of STEM education. There are four categories as Coding, Math, Science, and Technology. 
STEM is a curriculum based on the philosophy of educating students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in an interdisciplinary and applicable approach. Rather than teaching these four subjects as separate and different topics, STEM integrates them into a comprehensive learning experience based on real-world applications.

INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIADS: 

International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 

The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is an annual individual and team competition in the Natural Sciences for students under sixteen. IJSO recognizes the significance of the Natural Sciences in the general education of young people and all aspects of their lives. 

Currently, around 50 member countries participate every year. The academic competitions of the IJSO include challenging tests in topics of science, both as theory questions and practical tasks. 

  

International Math Olympiad (IMO) 

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in a different country. The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with seven countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 100 countries from 5 continents.

International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 

The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is a competition for secondary school students. It aims students at tackling biological problems and dealing with biological experiments. 

In bringing together gifted students, the IBO tries to challenge and stimulate these students to expand their talents and to promote their career as a scientist, so biology talents do not get lost.

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF)  
(Intel ISEF) is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. It is a program of Society for Science & the Public. The competition unites top young scientific minds from around the world, showcasing their talents on an international stage, where doctoral level scientists review and judge their work. The competition was founded in 1950 by Science Service (now the Society for Science) and was sponsored by Intel from 1997 to 2019. 

  

Genius Olympiad 

GENIUS Olympiad is an international high school project competition about environmental issues. It is founded and organized by Terra Science and Education and hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology. GENIUS Olympiad will host projects in five general disciplines with an environmental focus.   

  

International Chemistry Olympiad 

VILIPO is an exciting and stimulating international competition for students aged 12-19 with the mission to foster a global understanding of environmental issues and to make advances in sustainability through basic science, arts, technology and engineering.
