The Kangaroo Math Contest originated in Australia in the early 1980s and gained international prominence under the leadership of France after 1993.
Participation Details: The competition is open to students from 1st grade to 12th grade. Approximately 6,000,000 students from 70 countries participate annually.
Competition Date and Venue: The Kangaroo Math Competition in Iraq is scheduled for March 28, with an exam start time at 10:00. The exam will take place in Stirling Schools Primary, Secondary, and High Schools, in all major cities and organized according to student levels.
Competition Categories and Language: The competition has various categories based on grade levels. The language of the competition is English, except for the primary school 6th grade category, which is conducted in three languages.

Exam Format: The Kangaroo Mathematics Competition is multiple-choice.
The number of questions is 24 in the 1st and 2nd categories and 30 in other categories.
Each correct answer earns a specified score of 3, 4, or 5 points, and 1 point is deducted for each incorrect answer. Blank responses do not affect the score.
The exam duration is 90 minutes for all levels.
Teachers must collect the booklets after the exam. Students cannot take the exam booklets.
SCORING CRITERIA for the LEVELS:
PRE-ECOLIER and ECOLIER:
Problems are divided into three groups.
The first 8 problems are worth 3 points each.
Problems 9-16 are worth 4 points each.
Problems 17-24 are worth 5 points each.
Scoring:
Correct answers in the first group earn 3 points each.
Correct answers in the second group earn 4 points each.
Correct answers in the third group earn 5 points each.
Incorrect answers result in a deduction of 1 point each.
Unanswered questions receive 0 points.
Medals:
50 Points and More: GOLD Certificate
Between 40-49: SILVER Certificate
Between 30-39: BRONZE Certificate
BENJAMIN, CADET, JUNIOR, and STUDENT:
The first 10 problems are worth 3 points each.
Problems 11-20 are worth 4 points each.
Problems 21-30 are worth 5 points each.
60 Points and More: GOLD Certificate
Between 45-59: SILVER Certificate
Between 30-44: BRONZE Certificate
This scoring system provides a clear structure for participants, with different point values assigned to each group and specific medal categories based on the total score achieved. Participants can aim for GOLD, SILVER, or BRONZE based on their performance in the competition.
ORGANIZATION GUIDE:
The test will take place on 28th March 2024, Thursday
Schools can decide the time and execute the test any time of the day but cannot change the date. (After lessons 2:00 pm is suggested)
Students must be tested according to their correct categories.
Total 60 minutes are given for the 25-30 multiple-choice paper-based test questions.
Test materials will be delivered to teachers through Education Coordinators and DPAs.
Exam results start to be published within 2 weeks.
Students' (NAME)- (FATHER'S NAME)- (GRANDFATHER'S NAME) must be registered using CAPITAL LETTERS and ENGLISH characters as written in their passports along with (EXAM CATEGORY), (BIRTH DATE), (GRADE), (CLASS) (SCHOOL NAME), (FATHER’S PHONE NUMBER) and (CITY). If the ZipGrade form is used for the exam, each student’s above information must be included. The zip grading must include A-B-C-D-E options. (Zip grade is suggested for easy evaluations.
Kangaroo Exam Score Template (excel report) should be sent to [email protected] address by e-mail within 2 days at the latest after the exam.
Students who will take the exam from public and private schools should be requested to have an identity card or a student certificate. The Registration Form should be sent to the schools as a paper printout, then the participant lists should be collected by the regional coordinators and transferred to the excel form. The registration form must be received along with the registration fees. ***(The registration form can be prepared by schools according to information above in no-7)
FEES:
The registration fee is 5.000 IQD per participant. The last registration date is April 15.
***Registration fee (5.000 IQD) is non-refundable.
Registrations are organized by the schools under the education coordinators’ patron.
REGISTRATION GUIDE:
All the Math Teachers are requested to encourage their students for The Kangaroo Math Conterst.

KANGAROO MATH CONTEST AWARDS & CERTIFICATES:
The 1st 10% of participants 1st PLACE, (Certificate of Achievement)
The 2nd 10% of participants 2nd PLACE, (Certificate of Achievement)
The 3rd 10% of participants 3rd PLACE, (Certificate of Achievement)
The rest of the participants take CERTIFICATE of PARTICIPATION.
***1st 2nd and 3rd placers don’t get a certificate of participation.
The gift of the Kangaroo exam is only the certificates.
*** Schools should not promise students any awards other than those announced by the organizing firm. However, if they do choose to do so, they must inform Stirling Education Company of the type of gift they plan to give to their student to avoid any potential consequences. Additionally, schools must budget for the gift on their own before making any announcements.
